I’m a huge country western fan and a few days before Dolly was due with her 3 puppies ( yep, just 3) I was at the vet and they asked if I had a litter theme ~ Since it was a Monday and “The Voice” was on that night I said “yes the theme is The Voice”. Several days later during the C-section the pups came into the world. Two girls first, hence Gwen ( Stefani) and then Kelley and the last was a boy and I said, “it’s Blakey “. The team at the vet office all had a good chuckle. I kept Missy Gwen with expectations she would follow my other dogs and be a promising show dog. She was shown a handful of times as a puppy and even beat her famous dam, Dolly by winning the breed at a show they were both at. Then Covid escalated and all dog shows were cancelled across the country. No dog classes for any kind of obedience, play times, handling classes, etc. and Gwen was a stay at home girl for over a year. By the time things were improving and a few dog shows ( and people get togethers) started again Gwen was not used to the whole program and decided she just didn’t think being a show dog was all that great. Darn !

Gwen is all grown up now and is a super sweet girl. She’s happiest trying to share the recliner with me in the evenings. She has all her clearances and I think motherhood will agree with her. Most Goldens dote on their puppies and are great moms.
