Goldtales Golden Retrievers....................

Emily at Golden Retriever National 2001 on her way to Best Veteran at 9 years old !!!

I have owned Goldens since 1984. At first it was only one who was acquired as a family pet although she came from a show background. I had dreams of showing and breeding her yet her hips did not clear. The next Golden I had was purchased when I moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1985. She was shown by a handler and finished quickly but again another dog who's hips did not clear. At that time I began to research the background of local dogs and asked more questions of exhibitors and breeders and educate myself as far as clearances and pedigrees. Then I finally acquired a great dog who finished his American & Canadian championship very quickly and got all his clearances !!! I have owned some GREAT dogs in the past and feel that some GREAT dogs are in the future for Goldtales Kennels.........the story continues !

Please browse this site and find out more about the Goldens that live with me and the ones that live in my memory.

This website is a labor of love designed and updated by myself periodically. I certainly am not a "webmaster" nor do I have fancy graphics. I hope my love of Golden Retrievers and their lives are portrayed on this site.

All of the dogs that I own and breed have their minimum 4 clearances required by the Golden Retriever Club of America which are OFA hips, OFA elbows, OFA heart and yearly CERF ( now called genetic eye screening) eye clearances. OFA stands for Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. ( They are a database for the screening and grading of hips and elbow radiographs submitted to them. They are also a registry for dogs who's information has been submitted per board certified specialists in cardiology and ophthalmology .

All of the dogs I breed exhibit that wonderful temperament and that loving happy personality that typifies the Golden Retriever. All they really want to do is be close to their human !

Occasionally I have puppies so please check under litters for a upcoming planned litter. If you are searching for a puppy it may take several months to find a well bred future family member. Do not accept ANY excuses from a breeder who does not have all the genetic clearances. Any GOOD breeder will happily provide the sire and dam's name so their clearances can be verified on OFA. They also should welcome you into their home to meet the dam prior to pups being born. You should ask questions of the breeder and they will be asking lots of questions of you if they are a reputable breeder. Its a lot of commitment, time and energy raising a litter. I take pride in raising my puppies and making sure they are well socialized and acclimated to household noises.

The Golden Retriever Club of America ( has a wealth of information in regard to breeders, puppies, health concerns, breed standards, genetics, etc. The more information you can learn about Goldens the better owner you will be !

I have been a member of GRCA for 25 years and a member of Evergreen Golden Retriever Club for many years serving on the Board of Directors for 4 years and participating and chairing local club events.

I have enjoyed and been proud to show my dogs in the conformation ring for many years. While I was not great at it I found it rewarding when I'd beat the professional handlers or the skilled owner handler and put points on a dog. As I got older I just could not get around the ring anymore ( which does your dog no good) and handed the leads over to more capable people.

The fidelity of a dog is a precious gift demanding no less binding moral responsibilities than the friendship of a human being. The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth can ever be....................
